Scholarship Fund

The need for advancement of the educational levels of qualified children was introduced to the members of Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church as a way of enabling children to reach their full potential. Out of this concept, the Uganda Scholarship Fund was begun.

Children are sponsored by individuals, or families, and assistance is given for them to attend boarding schools, secondary schools, or even the university. By opening the doors of education to these children, future doors will be opened by them to those who follow, and opportunities will be available that could not have been imagined before. For by educating the youth, the entire village is advanced.

Currently there are 16 young people in our scholarship program. Three have graduated from the university, four are currently in college, and the rest are in various secondary schools. Of the three who have graduated: one has been employed by a metal working plant in Kampala, another is now teaching in a secondary school and the third on is doing graduate study.

Martha Kawala, whose e-mail asking for helped began a journey of friendship and caring, has completed the university program in education and is now teaching in a secondary school as a way of continuing to give back for what she has been given.
