Christmas Party for the Children

This has been another wonderful Christmas party for children of Papoli. Over 1,500 kids from Papoli village and beyond were treated to what in real Uganda standard a sumptuous party. The party was planned to kick of at 11:00 am, but by 8:30 kids had already started trickling in the venue, Papoli primary school, by 10:00 over 1,000 had arrived. The party planning team headed by Martha Kawala started panicking, for the number was growing beyond what was planned and budgeted, but at the end all went well.

Christmas party for kids in Papoli started way backing 2002, “A good Samaritan Initiative” and partnership between Paul and Dona Clark of Waverly Avenue Tampa and the Emmanuel Ofumbi family. In the years that followed the Clark Family was joined by the Steve and Caroline Hills and family to annually give special treats and put smiles in kids faces for Easter and Christmas celebrations.

This year, the party had a number of activities; they watched kid’s movies, birth of Jesus and the Obama Hyde Park victory celebrations; had inter-zone competitions in singing, dancing; above all ate and filled up with soda and juice drinks. The party officially ended at 5:00 pm., but kids had jammed to go home! What touches some one’s heart at these parties is that the kids have genuine smiles, they relax display the potentials in them, some for the first or second time in a year taste meat and rice and they indeed feel loved.

The village council, the church leaders, the parents/ guardians and indeed the kids always extend their heart felt appreciation for the kind heart of giving by the Clark and Hills families.
