This morning, the Parish Priest laid a foundation stone for the first Papoli primary school dormitory. This dormitory designed for capacity of 80 students and two teachers which at the ends will cost the tune of UGX: 124,000,000/= US $ 70,000: oo, this includes beds, beddings and other fixtures.
The Papoli Village Community is under taking this project in partnership with the Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church in Tampa Florida, USA. The local community members, like in other projects so far executed, contribute land and local materials like sand, bricks, stones, labour and onsite management and the rest are provided through the PCPC witness and Service Committee as mission work.
The Reverend Emmanuel Owori who laid the foundation stone and officiated at special prayers to mark the beginning of construction in his sermon talked about laying foundation on a bed of rock, which is our belief in Jesus Christ. He advised the students to sturdy diligently and achieve standards that befit the structures that are in Papoli. He concluded by thanking Papoli partners in mission from Tampa Florida for being more than a neighbour to the people of Papoli.
Mr. Yoga, the Chairman school management committee enumerated several achievements that has been seen in Papoli village for the last 5 years, namely 7 drilling borehole wells, construction of a modern preschool, construction of a state of art primary school and equipping with future and stoking library books, construction of over 70 house for widows and orphans and now the construction of a dormitory.
The ceremony was attended by village elders, village council members, local chiefs, and traditional leaders, officials from the district local government, district education office, community members and students of the school.
The construction is expected to be carried out in phrases, for to date only US $16,500:oo has been raised, leaving a funding gap of $53,500:oo. The Director Papoli Community Development Foundation, Mr. Emmanuel Ofumbi who heads the work in progress and liaises with mission partners on behalf of the community called upon any possible donor to come up and support this work that has already started, with the hope that by end of this year, the first dormitory should be completed.
Earlier in the day, the students had participated in ferrying stones to the construction site.
