Porridge for Papoli

Imagine what it is like to be hungry.
Imagine what it is like to feel the gnawing pain that is deep inside you, a hunger that never leaves.
It is hard to believe that children in this world where so much abundance exits, must go hungry.

But the reality is that this is life in many rural areas of this world.
This is life in rural Uganda.

Imagine.

The Porridge for Papoli project is an innovative method of assisting the poor communities in Papoli village to feed these children who attend the preschool and the primary school. Many of these come to school in the early morning hours without breakfast after going to sleep with a stomach half empty, for there is little food to feed them at home.

The concept of feeding porridge to these children during lunch time was developed to try and address this need.  The provision of porridge will serve many purposes:

    • Kids will have nutrition

    • Kids will concentrate in class and performance will improve

    • Absenteeism will be minimized

    • School drop out due to hunger will cease

    • Parents will concentrate more in home work and worry less about feeding their children at school

    • Punctuality in school will be observed

  • There will be a market for local peasants to sell their corn to the school

By feeding the body, the mind and the spirit are also fed.

For $33 a day, 1200 children in the schools of this small community can be fed 5 days a week.
If 100 people pledge $100, all of these children may be fed for one full year!
Please think of joining our 100/100 Club today to feed those who are hungry and most vulnerable.
